Sharing
Our lunches are proudly served on vintage Wedgwood Countryside Blue China. Some pieces show signs of wear but that's okay because just like people, age adds character. Besides, they were made to be used, and we love sharing them with our friends.

Group Outings
See GROUPS (at the top of this page) for details.

Rules of Relaxation
• No cell phone conversations inside the dining rooms (texting, taking/sharing photos is okay). Our goal is to provide a calm, quiet place that allows people to relax for a short time in their busy lives. Your cooperation is appreciated. Violators will be covered in strawberry glaze and tied down to an ant hill.
• Food made or purchased outside of Cafe Batar may NOT be brought inside - including birthday cakes. (Sorry, health code regulations!)

So, what does 'BATAR' mean, anyway?
Batar is a combination of three things:
1. "BA" is from Barbara. One of Batar's founders.
2. "TA" is from Tammy. The other Batar founder.
3. "R" stands for the REST of us. It's for all the other people behind the scenes that make this place what it is.

My sister and I came back today from Ohio for a visit to our favorite place to eat, shop and look and just hang and if you have never come here you MUST. The staff is great and so helpful and the owners are just down right the nicest people you will ever meet. I have brought my church group here and hopefully one day all my granddaughters. I just wish I lived closer. Please give this place a try it is a place I NEVER worry about paying for my trip because the staff and owner go beyond 110% to please you. And that makes you happy in a lot of ways. And if you are not in the Christmas mood you will soon get into it. This spot will be in Heaven as the only spot to eat at.

Today is Good Friday 2017!
We have gone to BATAR Café several times in 2016 and it is our absolute favorite place to get away to when we want to take a drive. The drive from Bedford to Seymour is not a factor for us because we always love how we are treated and the atmosphere of BATAR people. As soon as you walk in the door it is like you are home again to a wonderful experience you have gone through before and missed till now. Everyone treats you as though you are a long lost relative just returning for a meal with the family. It is homey and so down to earth from the time you first walk in.
The waitresses are excellent and always find time to chat and welcome you back but still are so efficient and quick to wait on you. Jim & I had the daily special of Chicken Gumbo and Quiche Lorraine and they both were unbelievably good. Every soup I have ever eaten at BATAR and their quiche are just so fantastic!
The food combined with the meticulous little café with its beautiful art handiwork by the owner with her special talents in decorating is so wonderful. I love the Wedgewood China pattern our meal is served on and the little tea cups. They have gone to extremes to capture the old things we always loved when growing up such as the beautiful, big, white China Cabinet just captivates me with the Chinaware of years ago. The little things make such a difference and we notice them.
Today the birds entertained us outside our window, while we were eating. We were at my favorite table in the Cherry Room and the forest type setting that you can view outside from your table is so nice. The woodpeckers, purple martins, doves, cardinals and blue jays were so awesome. They think of everything, we had a pair of binoculars to use for our viewing pleasure. On our way out, I had to buy my Aunt and Uncle a couple of specially decorated Easter Cookies that they will love. Then, we walked among the huge trees and enjoyed the new blossoms of the Magnolia Bushes with their wonderful fragrance. It felt enchanting to walk among the wildlife refuge, as it was designated by a sign. It was a real enjoyable afternoon. We love our special place tucked in the woods.
Thank you all at BATAR for always creating a special day for us,
Jim & Teresa Whitt 327 Glenview Drive Bedford, IN
